Do you REALLY know what you’re using?

Do you know what you’re putting on to your body when you use make-up/moisturiser etc??
Most moisturisers and cosmetic products contain chemicals called phthalates, which are actually incredibly hazardous to your health! Remember that the skin is an organ, which absorbs into your body EVERYTHING you put on it. Phthalates have been proven to cause a lot of problems with fertility, especially in males, with prolonged exposure, and especially at a young age. It also has many other far-reaching health effects including the genesis of cancers! It is a very dangerous chemical, and we should all be avoiding it as much as possible!
Phthalates are in everything from clothing to furniture to cutlery to pesticides, so it is literally impossible to avoid them altogether. There are ways that you can avoid phthalates in your everyday life, such as buying organic skincare and make-up, buying organic fruit and vegetables which have not been exposed to pesticides, using glass instead of plastics when heating foods in the microwave (plastics contain more phthalates than glass does, and heating plastics makes the phthalates come out of the plastics more readily) and making sure you store any water or drinks in glass and not plastic.
To find out more about phthalates, take a look here and here
To see how your cosmetics fare in terms of how dangerous they are for you, click here (this is an American site so if your products aren’t on here, I apologise)
If there’s anything I’ve missed please let me know, because I know I have much to learn. I hope this challenges you to be more aware of what you’re putting on and into your body.
These are horrible facts. Thanks for pointed them.
